Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen

Education

Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen, is located in the vibrant student city of Groningen. We have a wide variety of international Bachelor's and Master's programmes, Certificate and Exchange courses and our Hanze Summer School.

Student services

The International Service Desk (ISD) assists students who wish to study for an exchange semester at a partner university. We help with the application procedure and practical information. The ISD also processes the applications of incoming exchange students from partner institutions who want to follow an exchange programme at Hanze UAS. We apply for visas and residence permits for all incoming students with a non-EU nationality, assist with the search for accommodation and provide information about insurances and other practical matters.

Housing services

Are you planning to study at Hanze University of Applied Sciences? Great! We hope you will have a wonderful time in Groningen. Speaking of which: if you want to live in Groningen, you should start looking for a room as soon as possible.

In the Netherlands universities do not provide the student accomodation. We do reserve accommodation with housing providers (see 'SSH' at the 'Suggestions' section on this page), but the number of rooms is limited. Please take this very seriously and start searching for a room in a big advance!

Library services

Anyone attending a course or training, part-time/full-time or is working at Hanze University Groningen can make free use of the extensive collection, both physical and digital, and all services from the Hanze Library.

Sports facilities

Hanze UAS and the University of Groningen run a joint sports centre, with approximately 75 trainers and instructors and 20 staff members. The sports centre wants to help increase the mental and physical welfare of the students and employees of the institutions through sport. The sports centre provides ACLO with professional advice and facilitates the ACLO sports programme.

Student clubs

A student counsellor provides you with information and advice and can give a second opinion on subjects related to your study or personal circumstances. With the student counsellor you will look for solutions to your problem. A student counsellor has expertise in the area of regulations and procedures, studying with a functional disability and  persons and institutions that might be able to help you. In certain situations, the counsellor may refer you to an external expert, such as a psychologist.

All individual degree programmes are subject to accreditation. New programmes have to be accredited before they are launched (initial accreditation). After a programme has been recognised, it has to undergo an accreditation procedure every six years (accreditation).
