In 1798 six leading citizens of Groningen founded the Academy for Draughtsmanship, Architecture and Seamanship, which became known as Academy Minerva thirty years later. In the end, this became Hanze UAS Groningen.
Applied research and innovation is highly integrated in our academic programmes. In addition to this Hanze UAS has various modern facilities on campus to offer its students. An overview of important information for international students can be found on our International Service Desk webpage. We hope to see you in Groningen soon.
The University has multiple research groups:
The International Service Desk (ISD) assists students who wish to study for an exchange semester at a partner university. We help with the application procedure and practical information. The ISD also processes the applications of incoming exchange students from partner institutions who want to follow an exchange programme at Hanze UAS. We apply for visas and residence permits for all incoming students with a non-EU nationality, assist with the search for accommodation and provide information about insurances and other practical matters.
Anyone attending a course or training, part-time/full-time or is working at Hanze University Groningen can make free use of the extensive collection, both physical and digital, and all services from the Hanze Library.
Why not come and visit the campus and see Hanze UAS for yourself? Feel free to attend one of the Open Days (offered several times per year) or get in touch with our Hanze International Student Team and book your personal campus and city tour.
All the buildings of the Hanze University of Applied Sciences provide the modern, general facilities needed to learn in pleasant, friendly surroundings. The classrooms and lecture halls have been fitted with modern equipment, and there are also areas designated for working in groups or individual study.
Hanze UAS and the University of Groningen run a joint sports centre, with approximately 75 trainers and instructors and 20 staff members. The sports centre wants to help increase the mental and physical welfare of the students and employees of the institutions through sport. The sports centre provides ACLO with professional advice and facilitates the ACLO sports programme.
All individual degree programmes are subject to accreditation. New programmes have to be accredited before they are launched (initial accreditation). After a programme has been recognised, it has to undergo an accreditation procedure every six years (accreditation).
Together with the ISIC Association and British Council IELTS, Studyportals offers you the chance to receive up to £10000 to expand your horizon and study abroad. We want to ultimately encourage you to study abroad in order to experience and explore new countries, cultures and languages.
