Marquette University

History

Marquette was founded in 1540 by St. Ignatius Loyola. The university is named after Rev. Jacques Marquette, S.J. (1637-75), a French missionary and explorer in North America.

  • Marquette offers unique opportunities — from our honors to our study abroad programs to the Les Aspin Center for Government in Washington, D.C., to summer programs and more.

Research

The university supports research through several programs: three-year Way Klingler fellowships, sabbaticals for junior faculty and the Lawrence G. Haggerty Faculty Award for Research Excellence.
