China University of Geosciences (CUG), founded in 1952, is a national key university affiliated with the Ministry of Education. It is also listed in the National "211 Project", the “985 Innovation Platform for Advantageous Disciplines” and the "Double First-class Plan".
In 1987 China University of Geosciences was founded as a result of the merger of Wuhan College of Geology and its Beijing-based Graduate School, the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, Beijing College of Geological Management Cadre of Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources, and Wuhan College of Geological Management Cadre.

International undergraduates will undertake a 4-year full-time academic program with courses taught in Chinese (some courses are taught bilingually or in English). Undergraduates will only be awarded graduation certificates and bachelor's degrees upon completing the amount of credits stipulated in their teaching plans within four years as well as completing and passing the defense of their graduation dissertation.
