History

In the late 1950s, there was growing public discussion about how Niagara should have its own university. Its residents wanted young people to get a good education without having to leave the area.

Education

Brock is a comprehensive university with an expansive undergraduate system as well as advanced research, post-graduate and doctoral programs.

Students at Brock choose their courses from a rigorous and experiential academic portfolio spanning seven Faculties:

Brock also has the fifth-largest university co-op program in Canada, as well as a growing number of international programs.

Research

Brock research has a heart for community and a head for innovation. Our passion drives us to discover, disseminate, and apply new knowledge. Improving quality of life through leading-edge research and scholarship is what we’re all about. We are heavily invested in the economic, social and cultural health of our community and beyond. Scores of partnerships between the community and all faculties within the University make research a two-way process: we learn from one another as we discover and innovate together.

Career

Brock Career Services offer online and offline support through its Career Resource Center and various programs. Some notable programs such as Mentorship Plus connect students to senior students, as well as connecting senior students to professionals working within their fields of study.The Career Development Group, a lesser well known service, connect students in any field of study to live interview experiences through an annual speed interview event, professional opportunities through workshops and professionals relevant to their major in small groups or at a one on one capacity. This later service is generally offered directly to the Mentorship Plus program participants by the Mentorship Plus Co-ordinator

The mission of International Services is to help all Brock students – international and Canadian – get the most out of their studies and experience.

Housing services

    On-campus residence

Residence is more than just a place to live; it is your home away from home. We accommodate almost 2,500 students in seven residence complexes. We offer three styles of residence living: traditional, townhouse and suite-style.

    Off-campus living

Brock University’s Off-Campus Living office offers year-round housing information to students, landlords, and residents in the Niagara region, such as finding accommodations, landlord/tenant issues, neighbourhood relations, community outreach, and much more.

    Brock Homestay

Brock Homestay provides students with the opportunity to live with a Canadian family while studying at Brock. 

Library services

Named after the University’s founding president, the James A. Gibson Library is proud to offer:

  • rich digital and print collections
  •  individual and collaborative learning spaces
  • expert instruction and research assistance to students and faculty

ICT services

The Infrastructure Unit is comprised of the networking, server and telecommunications teams. Together these teams maintain the architecture that the on-premise ITS services run on.

The teams maintain the wired and wireless networks, the on-premise server structure, and the telephone system.

Medical services

We are an integrated team of professionals providing confidential, student centered health, wellness and accessibility services. We facilitate and create equal opportunities so every student can flourish throughout their journey at Brock.

Campus life

Residence at Brock is a warm and inviting atmosphere and it’s the people that make it the best place to live. You have the rest of your life to live off-campus and one of the benefits of living in residence is all that is available at your doorstep.

Sports facilities

We aim to engage students through diverse opportunities that develop lifelong skills for growth and advancement, provide access to committed student leaders who are actively engaged in building a stronger community, strive for barrier-free and inclusive environments that promote a healthy and balanced lifestyle and offer programs and support services that produce healthy living, skill development, life skills and fun!

Brock Recreation provides innovative, engaging, and high quality experiences in sport and recreation for the Brock University community and beyond.
