Education

At New York Medical College, our students learn in classrooms, labs and at patient bedsides. As a result of our focus on strong academics, scientific research and practical experience, New York Medical College students often get their first-choice matches and are well-prepared for the careers they seek.

Many members of our faculty – including Chancellor Halperin and Dean Amler– are practicing physicians who bring extensive professional experience to their teaching and mentorship roles. In addition, our network of clinical affiliate hospitals are some of the finest in the region, providing exceptional clinical training.

New York Medical College is the leading academic biomedical research center between New York City and the New York state capital of Albany. The College manages research and other sponsored programs, notably in the areas of cancer, cardiovascular disease, infectious diseases, kidney disease, the neurosciences, disaster medicine, and vaccine development.

Career

NYMC’s location in Westchester County provides a large and highly diverse catchment area with numerous career, residency, clinical, practicum and internship opportunities. For School of Medicine students, our local affiliate hospitals are some of the finest in the tri-state area, offering exceptional clinical training and experience with diverse populations.

Team pride is fueled by a desire to have fun, relieve stress and prove one’s mettle in exciting and enjoyable athletic activities. Our Flag Football League attracts about 150 students – both men and women – and features regular season and playoff games, a Super Bowl, and the annual PowderPuff Game, in which first-year women challenge second-year women, with men providing the halftime entertainment.
