About

History

The institution was founded in 1919 as The School of Automobile Trades and opened under the direction of Albert Sobey to train engineering and management personnel. In 1923, the school became the Flint Institute of Technology offering a four-year cooperative education program, and enrolling more than 600 students.

The library now provides free access to Lynda.com, a series of over 5,000 training videos for skills building in coding, photography, web design, leadership, CAD, and more.

ICT services

Kettering University's labs and facilities provide research skills and experiences to undergraduate and graduate students. Undergraduate students have the unique opportunity to engage in research projects in their area of interest as soon as they arrive on campus.

Medical services

A licensed practical nurse is available during regular business hours on campus. The nurse provides college specific nursing care and promotes health, wellness and preventive care for the student population. Care received in the Wellness Center is nurse-directed and based on physician approved clinical protocols.

Student clubs

Students of Kettering University have participated in SAE events for over 25 years. The team leader works with the faculty advisor to coordinate the progress of the team over the course of the design and fabrication stages. Team members are responsible for designing and constructing all aspects of the car including frame, suspension, body, engine, drivetrain, electrical systems and plumbing.

Kettering University has been accredited since 1962 by The Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
