With origins dating back to 1897, University of the West of Scotland is one of Scotland’s most innovative modern universities. The four UWS campuses cover the west and south-west of Scotland in Ayr, Dumfries, Hamilton and Paisley, as well as a new campus in London.

Housing services

Located in a vibrant part of the city, a short walk from central London (15-minute walk from London Bridge underground), UWS's London Campus offers modern study facilities and attractive accommodation options in one of the most exciting cities in the world. Close to the City - a global hub for financial and business institutions - the campus is right at the heart of the business world. 

Library services

UWS Library has an extensive collection of relevant resources that support learning, teaching and research. Each of our five campuses has its own library, and students can access resources held throughout the UWS Library network and online. We also have an Information Literacy Programme to support information skills development .

ICT services

UWS London Campus is wifi enabled with a spacious computer lab to ensure that all students have free, unlimited access to their email and the internet. A partnership with Microsoft – the Microsoft Campus Agreement – allows access to the latest Microsoft products for use on personal computers, on or off campus.

Medical services

The National Health Service (NHS) provides healthcare services in the UK and international students can access this free of charge provided that:

  • You are studying in the UK for more than 6 months and you hold a valid student visa, or
  • You are a national of a European Economic area country, or
  • You are a national of a country that has a reciprocal health agreement with the UK

Campus life

Combining the town's history and heritage with modern, contemporary teaching facilities, UWS Paisley Campus provides a dynamic and inspiring learning environment. The campus is home to around 10,000 students and offers a range of courses and research opportunities in business; computing; social sciences; engineering and science; and health, nursing and midwifery.  

Sports facilities

The Centre for Culture, Sport and Events focuses on four key themed areas: place-focused cultural regeneration; arts, cultural diplomacy and soft power; sport events and festivals; and, media communication and digital cultures.

Student clubs

SAUWS, our award-winning Students’ Association, is run for students by students. SAUWS organise and deliver a wide range of social and sporting events all year round and campaign with you and on your behalf on the issues that really matter to you.

UWS is officially recognised by Times Higher Education in the top 600 of universities worldwide (2022 World University Rankings) and in the top 150 of universities worldwide under 50 years old (2022 Young University Rankings).
