History
Since its founding in 1969, Sotheby’s Institute has built an extensive global network of diverse individuals, which grows with every class. Each year, over 2,500 students study with Sotheby’s Institute and go on to work and network, across every sector of the art world. The Master’s degree alone has over 8,000 alumni — the largest and most powerful alumni network of its kind.
Education
All of the Master’s programs on our campuses in London and New York provide an in-depth study of today’s art world and a powerful set of professional skills to deploy in the market. Core curricula bring students from all program areas together for a common introduction to current issues in the art world, discussing its structures, organizations, and essential protocols. Lectures and panels with leading scholars and art professionals as well as site visits, case studies, workshops, and field study trips, all make sure that our students are well equipped with theoretical and practical knowledge – and a global network – to master the art world upon graduation.
Career
The Sotheby’s Institute Career Services office provides all of our Master’s degree students with customized support in their internship and job search needs, including cover letter and resume writing, interview preparation, and alumni network connections. Career Services also help facilitate potential internship and job opportunities at major art companies and organizations, such as Sotheby’s, Phillips, Gurr Johns, Winston Art Group, Gagosian Gallery, Paul Kasmin Gallery, Pace Gallery, Hirschl & Adler, Winter Antiques Show, The Armory Show, and TEFAF.
