History

Late in 1880, brothers Charles and Augustus Storrs donated land and money to start an agricultural school in Connecticut. More than 130 years later, the University of Connecticut has become one of the top 20 public universities in the nation. 

Education

Research

  • At UConn, our faculty, staff, and students are dedicated to learning more about the world around them through research. With annual expenditures in excess of $200 million, collaborative research is carried out within the departments of our 14 schools and colleges and at our more than 100 research centers and institutes. 
  • We are working to enhance the nation’s hardware security at the Center for Hardware Assurance, Security, and Engineering; figuring out how to build everything from jet engines to spaceship parts using advanced three-dimensional printing technology at the Pratt & Whitney Additive Manufacturing Innovation Center; developing sustainable energy systems at the Center for Clean Energy Engineering.

Housing services

UConn Residential Life enhances students’ personal, interpersonal, and intellectual growth by creating safe and inclusive environments, producing innovative programs and services, and fostering meaningful relationships. 

Library services

The UConn School of Law Library & Technology Department connects members of the law school community to people, places, information, ideas and resources.

We accomplish this mission by:

  • Providing comprehensive, current and relevant print and digital collections;

The mission of the University of Connecticut Student Health and Wellness is to promote the lifelong physical and emotional well-being of our students. Our multi-disciplinary team provides high quality, cost-effective Primary Care, Health Promotion and Educational Outreach.

From Horsebarn Hill to Downtown Storrs, our picturesque main campus is home to more than 19,000 undergraduates, as well as graduate students pursuing one of 17 graduate degrees or a doctorate in pharmacy.

Sports facilities

A tradition of coaching winning athletes ensures UConn is a standout in Division I sports and fuels our academic spirit. Our teams work hard to compete at the highest level, racking up championship titles and making us proud. 

UConn student-athletes are ambassadors for the student body, working just as hard in the classroom as they do in competition. When they’re not training or studying, our athletes give back to the community.

From baseball, softball, and soccer to hockey, track and field, and swimming and diving, UConn athletes consistently perform at an elite level athletically and academically. Our students, alumni, and fans from all over Connecticut – and beyond – rally around Husky pride.

Student clubs

UConn offers over 350 student clubs to help students get more involved in the community. Organizations include academic, volunteer, sporting, performance, and other groups.
