History

Set on 42 acres of wooded ground, only a 10 minute walk from Cork City Centre, our college was established in 1845 after a long campaign for a higher education institution in Munster.

Student services

While studying at UCC it's also important to remember that there is a life beyond the lectures, seminars and labs. UCC has a great range of clubs, societies and supports available to students.

Housing services

UCC knows how important it is to find the right student housing. Campus Accommodation is university owned and managed apartment style living. Other Housing Options include purpose built student apartment complexes as well as rooms in a private house or apartment.  The Accommodation & Community Life office focuses on providing an up-to-date information service for students actively seeking student accommodation.

Library services

At University College Cork Library we offer innovative services, resources and spaces that align with your learning, teaching and research needs. The Library consists of the Boole Library and branch Library Boston Scientific Health Sciences Library. We support the UCC community and bring together many sources of information not readily available elsewhere in Munster.

Medical services

The Student Health Department provides services that target illnesses and problems that occur in the University Student population. It is not resourced to provide a GP service, but we provide a range of services that may not be as easily accessible in the community.

Campus life

The UCC campus is one of the most beautiful in Europe - an idyllic campus on the banks of the river Lee, within walking distance of a historic city steeped in culture and tradition. Old limestone buildings blend seamlessly with stunning modern architecture against a backdrop of mature gardens.

Sports facilities

An international survey conducted by International Graduate Insight Group in 2015 ranked UCC 1st in Ireland for its sport's facilities. UCC has 59 Sports Clubs and 78 active student societies.

The Mardyke Arena, UCC consists of a 25m swimming pool, international sized basketball court, dressing rooms, climbing wall and an external viewing gallery over a recently installed indoor and outdoor running track. It is a landmark university sports and leisure facility purpose built on the existing campus sports grounds.

Other facilities also include a swimming pool, multi-purpose sports hall, state of the art gym’s and associated admin, office, restaurant and support facilities. 

Student clubs

UCC is home to more than one hundred different societies. 

Cork University Business School in UCC has now been accredited by the AACSB and AMBA (Association of MBAs), making it a double accredited Business School, of which there are fewer than 200 worldwide.
