Overview
About the course
This Jewellery Design (SEG Level 2 Award) course at the Arts University Bournemouth promotes a very board interpretation of jewellery design, where you'll explore a range of diverse specialisms and technologies as well as examining and employing traditional making techniques and approaches.
This course emphasises traditional hand-skills and crafting techniques, and as such you’ll be expertly led to use traditional jewellery making tools safely and effectively to achieve the desired effects and finishes. You’ll experiment with different materials, including but not limited to various metals, precious metals, ceramics, glass, and wood in a vibrant and stimulating environment surrounded by fellow designers and makers.
You’ll explore the process of jewellery making in its entirety, through research, material investigation, designing and physical making. You’ll be taught how to take your ideas and mould them into fully formed concepts and designs as well as be encouraged to develop your own creative identity.
