What you will study
- In the Fraud and corruption course offered by ETH Zurich - Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, course participants receive an introduction to the main concepts and mechanisms of prevention, detection, investigation and sanctioning adopted by the international development community.
- The course also introduces a political economic perspective that delves into interconnectivities between the macro elements of fraud and corruption.
- By using case studies and practical examples, the course prepares participants for dealing with fraud- and corruption-related issues in the context of concrete development programmes and projects.

- Definitions and approaches of fraud and corruption;
- Political economy of fraud and corruption;
- National and international legal aspects of fraud and corruption;
- Fraud over the internet and electronic media;
- Policies and tools to prevent and detect corruption – legislation, leadership and corporate culture;
- Methodology and approaches of investigation – analysis, interviews and fact finding;
- Effectiveness of sanctioning: balancing out local individual cases and global organizational policy.

- Students of the MAS/CAS in Development and Cooperation as well as interested persons with at least 24 months of work experience in international development cooperation.
- PhD students who conduct empirical research within the field of development cooperation.
