Key facts
The Open University UK's Trauma-informed counselling course aims to equip counsellors and psychotherapists to develop their current understanding of trauma and to consider their practice through a trauma-informed lens. Specifically, trauma is considered through the lens of power and safety. Learners will develop awareness of working safely with trauma and with a diverse range of clients, including managing boundaries and risk, and appreciating the importance of self-awareness and self-care for practitioners working with trauma. On successful completion learners will receive a CPD certificate for this course.

- Trauma in context explores trauma in broader social contexts.
- Trauma-informed approaches addresses ways of working safely with trauma.
- Trauma and you explores the role of, and importance of, self-awareness and self-care when working with trauma.
