What you will study
The Digital communications course offered by Luleå University of Technology deals with the theory and applications of a number of basic concepts in digital communication.
At the end of the course you will be able to:
- Describe, explain linear modulation
- Describe, explain, calculate the spectrum and bandwidth of communication signals
- Describe, explain, calculate baseband representation of signals with passband character
- Describe, explain, calculate signal constellations, its energy, and distance properties
- Describe, explain, calculate Nyquist pulses for communication and its properties
- Describe, explain, calculate how signals can be represented as vectors
- Describe, explain, calculate the matched filter
- Describe, explain, calculate the additive Gaussian noise and its effect
- Describe, explain, calculate hypothesis tests and detection
- Describe, explain, calculate the Map and ML detector
- Describe, explain, calculate the Q function
- Describe, explain, calculate the error probabilities of detectors
- Describe, explain OFDM
- Evaluate and simulate simple digital communication systems in MATLAB.
