The learning outcomes of the High Performing Charities course offered by Singapore University of Social Sciences are:
A. Knowledge and Understanding (Theory Component)
- Demonstrate understanding of different types of leadership in social service contexts
- Learn what the current minimum expected governance standards and regulations are
- Describe how volunteers can be used for social change programmes
- Identify opportunities to foster community participation
- Compare and analyse risks in different fundraising tools and methodologies
- Explain how fundraising strategies may be aligned with needs, motivations and strategies of the organisation
B. Key Skills
- Reflect and employ leadership theories on current leadership challenge(s)
- Apply the appropriate leadership frameworks and values to shape positive social change
- Illustrate, from given scenarios, what good and/or bad practices are compared to standards and regulations
- Suggest how bad practices can be improved to meet the standards and regulations
- Review existing organisational practices in volunteer management
- Illustrate how the leadership models and community engagement strategies can be applied to practical work situations
- Develop strategies to achieve fundraising outcomes
- Discuss new ways of undertaking fundraising in response to philanthropic trends

- Management in the charities sector including deputy director, executive director, C-suite executives as well as volunteers, where applicable.
- Attendees should be current employees of a charity organisation or serving as volunteers in the charity sector.
