What you will study
The Leading and Inspiring Through Professional Supervision course offered by University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) will provide new insights, informed by current models of supervision and research at the forefront of professional practice. The module will enable students to gain a critical understanding of knowledge in their area of practice and to practise the skills required to provide effective supervision within a complex and changing social care environment.

- Establishing a clear understanding, rationale and framework for supervision
- The impact of supervision on practice and outcomes for service users and carers
- The role of emotional intelligence in supervision
- Theories of adult learning, learning styles and experiential learning
- Skills, values and knowledge of working with diverse communities and challenging oppressive practice
- Skills in leadership

- This module is aimed at those supervising social workers or social care staff and are keen to develop their skills and knowledge in this critical area of professional practice.
- All candidates need to ensure that they have a relevant undergraduate degree at 2:2 or above or evidence of their ability to study at postgraduate level.
