Study mode: Synchronous online delivery via virtual classroom using one of the following web-based learning and teaching platforms (e.g. MS teams, Kaltura new row, Adobe connect, Zoom). The content on the day will be delivered via a mixture of PowerPoint presentation, small group exercise and discussion, group feedback and recap/quiz.

Course content

Effective use of medicines is an important part of self-management of chronic conditions. However, many people do not take their medicines. It is estimated that only half of people with chronic conditions adhere to their long-term medications and only a third follow general lifestyle recommendation.

By the end of the session, participants should be able to:

Describe what the concordance approach entails and what adherence to treatment can be affected by in general.
Identify evidenced based strategies and use self-management tools to prevent relapse and promote recovery in users of mental health services.
Describe and understand your role in promoting concordance in your area of work to improve patient outcomes.
