Learning and teaching
- Study mode: Face-to-face delivery, every candidate will receive a skills workbook, handouts and reading materials for pre- and post-session.
- The exercises in class will be delivered working in pairs and small group and role play exercises followed by discussion, group feedback and recap/quiz and evaluation.
Programme Structure
This workshop will help you develop your practice by learning the following:- Introduction to health coaching and motivational interviewing and how to utilise these approaches so that you are better equipped to help clients change their health-related knowledge, attitudes, and behaviour.
- Be able to conduct an eliciting behaviour change talk/conversation, and learn how to raise your client’s awareness of risky behaviours, how to respectfully challenge their ambivalence and resistance to change their behaviour, and how to enable a skilful dialogue with your client (underpinned by ethical principles of practice, advanced communication skills and collaboration/co-production and partnership working with clients)
- Be able to conduct a behaviour change client-centred conversation with tutor feedback using Role Play.
