Explore the worlds of Beethoven and Berlioz, investigate the significance of dance as a driver of musical history, and the strange mysteries of how advances in the construction of musical instruments gave composers the freedom to write as they wished with University of Strathclyde's Six More Wonderful Concerts. All of this through six splendid concerts, featuring world class performers and soloists. All concerts will have introductory talks and full programme notes.
Programme Structure
- There will be orchestral concerts (with overtures, concertos and symphonies), chamber concerts (with string quartets, and instrumental sonatas), and instrumental recitals. Music will include Beethoven's Horn Sonata, Copland's Clarinet Concerto, Debussy's' Piano Preludes, and much more! There will be an opportunity for conversation after each concert.
