Research
Our professors, researchers, lecturers and students all work with partners in professional fields on high-quality, applied research. They produce innovative solutions to issues emerging from the international business community and society as a whole, thereby helping to create a more sustainable world. Their research results are also used for teaching. This ensures that students acquire the skills demanded by their professional fields. It also means that the research directly contributes to our mission as a university of applied sciences: to educate professionals who will contribute to a better and more sustainable world.
Career
VHL has close connections to the international business world and NGOs. This allows you to apply the theory into practice: besides obtaining highly valued work experience during internships abroad, students go on excursions at companies where they work on real-life cases. We also invite professionals over to give guest lectures. International experience is crucial in the development of our students as intercultural competencies are required in almost all career fields.
Right from the start, you will develop a professional network of students and colleagues from all over the world. The world is at your feet when you are a VHL graduate. You can work in the national and international market after graduation.
Short Courses
Housing services
There are various solutions for housing during your study, depending on the location of your campus. Student accommodation in The Netherlands differs from many other countries: most universities do not offer housing on campus and most Dutch and International students find their own accommodation on the private market.
On our website we share several routes you can take in finding student housing and tips and tricks. In general prices range between €350 to €550 a month.
Library services
The libraries are high-quality departments within Van Hall Larenstein. They are intensively used as places where users can meet, study, lounge and hold a meeting. The media collection is suited to the needs of the various study programmes at each campus location.
Campus life
The Velp campus is located on the Larenstein estate making it truly unique. In a garden filled with native flora and fauna, a number of mini biotopes have been created based on various soil types. Half of all 1,700 plant species native to the Netherlands can be found here. It’s a great place to learn about plants!
The indoor facilities at the Velp campus also offer you everything you need: a large multimedia library, several laboratories, a sensory lab for research and our own café where you can take a moment to relax.
Student clubs
Of course, you can organise your new life as a student all by yourself. But you can also choose to become a member of a student association and experience your student life in the best possible way. Both options are equally fine, but it is nice to be able to choose. And this is possible! There are several student associations active in Velp (Arnhem) and Leeuwarden. Some are especially for international students. At VHL most study programmes also have their own student association.
All programmes of Van Hall Larenstein are accredited by the Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders (in Dutch: NVAO). Every six years each programme has to renew this inspection mark. In order to accomplish this, a visitation-panel will assess the programme and produce a visitation report. Every cluster of programmes is visited in a different year.
