ARU College

ARU is one of the largest universities in the east of England, with campuses in two of the UK’s most exciting cities, Cambridge and Chelmsford.

History

A long history in providing education and internationally recognised degrees: established in 1858 as the Cambridge School of Art, ARUprovides degrees in over 100 academic areas to over 35,000 full and part-time students.

Education

ARU College (formerly known as Cambridge Ruskin International College or CRIC) offers undergraduate and postgraduate pathways at ARU for students that do not meet the requirements for direct entry, have not studied the subjects required for their chosen degree or spent some time out of education. Following completion of the ARU College pathway students benefit from guaranteed entry into an ARU degree.

Campus life

At ARU College we believe that excellent campus facilities are essential in providing the support and resources required to make the most of your studies. In the last five years ARU has invested over £80 million in campus developments, with a further £124 million planned over the next 5 years. Among the specialist facilities are:

  • a suite of forensic science laboratories, complete with a scene of crime unit;
  • 4 University Libraries (including an extensive Digital Library in addition to our on-site print collections);
  • a suite of multimedia sound and recording studios;
  • a Human Energetics Sports Science Laboratory;
  • a University Eye Clinic;
  • simulated hospital wards and operating theatres;
  • bespoke counselling rooms;

Sports facilities

  • Our East Road campus hosts a new gym for students, staff and alumni, which is just 183 metres from the city’s Parkside swimming pool and the Kelsey Kerridge sports centre. Anglia Ruskin students also have use of three football pitches and a rugby pitch
  • An industry standard, fully-equipped 3-camera TV studio with a full lighting rig, professional-standard gallery, complete with mixer, autocue and more!
  • The new FDM_Xperimental suite of animation and visual effects facilities for both internal and external projects.

Student clubs

  • At ARU College we organise events every semester. Previously we have held talent shows, sports events (including football and cricket tournaments), visits to the coast and theme parks.
  • Being part of sports and cultural societies while you are at ARU will open up many social and career opportunities to you. We encourage our students to participate in such activities as much as possible.
